Alexandria is the second biggest city in Egypt with a population of more than 7 million it’s the biggest harbour in Egypt it has along coast extend for more than 33 kilometres inside the city Alexandria  The pearl of the Mediterranean sea was founded by Alexander the great 31 BC  it was the centre of Hellenistic civilisation it was a culture and trade centre it’s famous for it’s library and the light house which was considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world now destroyed because an earth quake took place 956BC the Alexandria is locating 225 kilometres north of Cairo it takes 3 hour from cairo the Major sightseeing the national museum which contains the monument which was discovered in alexandria some pharaonic and Greco Roman and Islamic and Coptic artefacts also there is A catacomb  dates back to the 4th century it’s 3 levels underground the carvings are still intact till now also you can visit pompes  pillar so you can see the ruins of a Roman temple with massive columns which were part of the colonnades with the daughter library where you can see where they were put the thousands Rolls of papyrus also you can pay a visit to Montaza garden which extend for more than 350 acres which have the palaces of the Royal family king farouk and his father fouad which overlooking the Mediterranean sea where his private yacht used to dock it’s apiece of paradise for his own he had a private train station and place to hunt gazelles and palace to have his tea and also you can pay A visit to Alexandria library the new one was built 2002 to revive the glory of the ancient one it’s  consist of 11 cascaded floors take the shape from outside like the Sun disk which emerge from the water to spread knowledge the openings of the library which allow ventilations and light to get inside the buildings those openings look like the eye lashes there is also a conference centre and planetarium and library for kids and blind people.
